Band of Sisters
Band of Sisters
Band of Sisters
is a documentary film that tells the unforgettable story of Catholic nuns in the United States:
how they responded wholeheartedly to the call of Vatican II,
risked everything in their unwavering commitment to social justice,
and made a remarkable transformation from "daughters of the church" into citizens of the world.
"I did exactly what the Church asked me... and now the Church is looking at me like...
where have you come from...
who are you?"
The Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith stunned the nation and its sisters on April 18 with its surprise release of a doctrinal assessment critical of LCWR, the leadership umbrella group representing 80 percent of U.S. women religious. The assessment criticized LCWR for its connections with NETWORK (a national Catholic social justice lobby that had just begun its celebration the night before of 40 years of advocacy for the poor and disempowered), and for "serious doctrinal problems."

Please support the sisters and their stellar organizations, and keep them in your prayer, during this serious and tragic time in their history in the United States, and in the history of the church in our world.
